LONGHORN BEETLES (Cerambycidae)


Description
This beetle is mottled brown with two white patches on its elytra. It is about 2/5 inches long, with black-and-white-banded antennae of the same length.

Occurrence
This beetle is active from April to September. It was photographed in Child’s Hollow in Fontenelle Forest although its overall occurrence there is unknown. Larvae feed in soft decayed wood of numerous hardwood trees.

Comments
This beetle belongs to the flat faced long horned beetle subfamily Laminae. It formerly was in the genus Aegomorphus.
