BORER BEETLE
Neoclytus mucronatus
LONG HORNED BEETLE FAMILY (Cerambycidae)
Description
It has a long protruding face and is about ¾ of an inch long. It has spines at the tip of the hind tibia. It is reddish with yellow markings.
Occurrence
Its occurrence in Fontenelle Forest is not known. The larva bore into bark which probably accounts for its common name.
Comments
A member of the cerambycinae subfamily. Neoclytus is a genus of 26 wasp mimics collectively found over North America.
