WHITE-LIP GLOBE
Mesodon thyroidus

Description
This snail grows to 3/4 inch in diameter. It has a thick, white lip and usually no teeth within the shell, but sometimes there is a tooth as shown in (G) . Below, its "belly button" (umbilicus) is either closed and covered by a callus (B), or open as shown in (G).
Occurrence
This snail is common in Fontenelle Forest, and presumably in Neale Woods as well. Like other terrestrial snails, it prefers moist conditions and can best be seen on the ground, on fallen logs or on low vegetation in the hollows.
