Fungus beetles include four different families (Pleasing fungus beetles, Hairy fungus beetles, False darkling beetles and Polypore fungus beetles) and are usually found around fungi.
Net winged beetles usually have a raised net like pattern of veins on their wing covers (
elytra). The elytra are almost always broadest towards the rear and extend loosely beyond the body margins. The
antenna are usually long and often flattened, nearly always saw toothed or threadlike. Most are brightly colored. They are usaully black with red or orange markings but sometimes entirely red or orange. They are in the
family Lycidae which has more than 75 species in N.America.
