FLORIDA TETANOLITA

Description
The Florida Tetanolita has a wingspan of about 1 inch. The forewing is light gray to brown. The reniform spot is light orange to yellow. The Antemedial Line is scalloped. The Postmedial band is jagged and irregular. The subterminal line is irregular and is usually composed of pale spots. The hindwing pattern is similar to the forewing, but it often has a continuous pale subterminal line. Moths in this genus have an antennal tuft on each antenna about 1/4 the distance from the base.
Occurrence
The frequency of occurrence is not known. It has been seen only once at Neale Woods coming to artificial lights in September 2013. The adults fly from April to October
Comments
The larva probably feeds on dead leaves. This moth belongs to the sub-family of Litter Moths (Herminiinae).
