COMMA WAINSCOT

Description
The Comma Wainscot has a wingspan of about 1.5 inches. The forewing is straw-colored with bold black lines and a white line running from the base of the wing to the black discal dot. The discal dot is followed by a short black dash. The hindwings are tan or pale gray with darker veins.
Occurrence
The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. The individual shown here was photographed in late July 2015 at Camp Logan Fontenelle, in Fontenelle Forest. It is widespread in North America and occurs from coast to coast.
Comments
The larvae eat various grasses. There is one generation a year.
