Description
The Small Mossy Lithacodia Moth has a wingspan of approximately .75 inch (15 - 19 mm). The forewing is green with blackish shading and lines. The antemedial and postmedial lines are wavy and gold colored. The black orbicular spot is outlined in white to orange. A short white line extends upward from the inner margin near the anal angle. The hindwing is gray.
Occurrence
The frequency of occurrence in Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is not known. It has been photographed once at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in early August 2015. It ranges from Florida to New Hampshire west to Arizona and north to Wisconsin. Adults fly from May to September.
Comments
The host food plant is unknown. Another common name for this moth is Small Mossy Glyph.
